The film will be released by Fox Searchlight on August 23, 2019. Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin directed with Chad Villella executive producing. Looking like a horror version of Clue, the sets are extravagant, the costume design is stupendous, and Weaving (“Ash vs Evil Dead”, Mayhem, The Babysitter) looks like she’s going to put on a superstar performance (because she is a superstar). You are placed in the boots of Judge, an elite SWAT commander being tasked with defusing tense, hostile situations in a morally bankrupt city. The game they play is Hide and Seek (hence the title Ready or Not), and the trailer promises not only buckets of blood, but tons of laughs. Ready or Not is a realistic tactical first person shooter, set against a backdrop of political and economic instability in the United States.
The film follows a young bride ( Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband’s ( Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (played by Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
